barnett earns cnc lasering prizes

Isabelle Barnett, HHS Sophomore, won 1st place in CNC Lasering at SWAEC's Girl Power to the Max Competition on 2/15/23.  She went home with a $200 cash prize, a $500 UAHT Tuition Voucher, a $25 Mcdonald's gift card donated by American Fidelity, and a Hope Chamber Watermelon Festival shirt.

Isabelle went on to represent the SWAEC co-op region in CNC Lasering at the Regional Girl Power to the Max CNC competition held at Ledwell in Texarkana on March 1st.

The HHS AG Department received a Tool Chest and a grinder along with other power tools for having a regional finalist.

Girl Power to the Max is the first CNC competition of its kind in Arkansas designed to challenge 9th-12th grade girls to develop skills for Computerized Numeric Control Plasma Cutters and Laser Machines used in manufacturing in our area.

BOSS Laser was a sponsor for the regional event and each SWAEC high school now has a BOSS Laser machine in their AG Departments. The events were made possible due to a DCTE Innovation Grant.
