Sept. 20 – Hope Public Schools Educator Hall of Fame reception, 9:30 – 11 a.m., MAC conference room, Hope High School. Induction ceremony at Hammons Stadium, 6:30 p.m.

Sept. 19, 20 – Hope Bobcat Football, 8th grade vs. Magnolia, Thursday, 5:30 p.m., away; Varsity vs. Prescott, Friday, 7 p.m.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The 2019 Class of the Hope Public Schools Educator Hall of Fame will be inducted in ceremonies Sept. 20 at Hammons Stadium prior to the Hope-Prescott football game. The six honorees, Mrs. Edith Brown, Ms. Beryl Henry, James H. Jones, Mrs. Ruth Flowers Love, George Straughter and Mrs. Alice Straughter will be honored with a public reception from 9:30-11 a.m., Sept. 20, at Hope High School. Induction ceremonies are to take place that evening prior to the Hope-Prescott football game at Hammons Stadium.

Sandra Calhoun, kitchen manager at Clinton Primary School, will be one of 200 food services professionals worldwide to be recognized in October by food services company Aramark. Calhoun has been named to the Aramark “Ring of Stars” by company CEO Eric J. Floss. Employed in the Hope Public Schools child nutrition department since 2016, Calhoun oversees daily meals for 850-900 students in grades PreK-4. She will be recognized during a four-day Aramark gathering in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The Hope Public Schools, in association with Farmer’s Bank and Trust, has launched the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program in Hempstead County. The initiative provides free books to children aged newborn through five years who enroll through the Hope Public Schools. Contact HPS administration at 777-2251 for additional information.

The maids of the 2019 Hope High School Homecoming Court have been announced, and will be presented in the coronation ceremony for the HHS Homecoming Queen on Sept. 27 in Jones Field House at HHS.  The 2019 Homecoming Maids include Gracie Gilbert, Jenny Navarrete, Audrianna Collins, Trinity Rogers, Kathy Rogel, Jennifer Balbuena, Britney Alvardo-Frayre, Danielle Short, Kaitlynn Hooker, Addison Herron, and Daisy Aguilar. The homecoming court will be presented to the public at the Hope – DeQueen football game at Hammons Stadium.
