A mobile device application which downloads web sites of the Hope Public School District is now available with a redesigned series of sites for schools in the district.
HPSD Technology Coordinator Jeff Madlock said the application and new sites became live Monday.
“We wanted to make it simple, easier to find information and easier for the district to post information,” Madlock said of the redesign. “At the bottom of every page of our web sites they can download the application that allows access from their phone.”
He said the two-pronged project required about three months to complete, incorporating a new web site platform designed by Apptegy, based in Little Rock. Madlock said the redesign and integration with social media is a plus for the district.
“When we do a live feed, we can also share to Facebook and Twitter at the same time,” he said.
Consequently, information which needs to be made available in real time can be posted to all six web sites and the district’s social media simultaneously. And, that information, as well as access to each web site, can be accessed through the Apple App Store download.
“The web site address will remain the same at hpsdistrict.org,” Madlock said. “They can search Hope Public Schools or campus web sites now with Facebook or Twitter.”
He said each web site features three main sections, including the “live feed,” a “news” feature, and an “events” calendar that will be updated on a regular basis.
Other features which are still being developed will remain “static,” providing information which will remain over time, such as a “welcome” block, photo carousel, “about us,” and “staff” information. Campus web sites are also expected to offer a “cafeteria” button which will provide meal menu information.
