Hope Collegiate Academy 10th grader Nevaeh Williams took first place in a UAHT poetry contest! The contest was judged blindly by UAHT staff.

Way to go, Nevaeh, we are so proud of you!

Her poem:

Songs Of You by Nevaeh Williams

I was in love with you before I knew your name,
Like a soft psalm sung in the quiet rain.
I asked the heavens, is love like this?
And they answered me back with a voice and a kiss.

I keep you close like a treasured promise,
Pray over you while the universe sleeps.
For love is patient, that love is really kind,
And I will even keep you when you cry.

When your spirit looks like sinking sand,
I'll be the rock, I'll have your hand.
For two are better than one, they say,
If you fall, I'll help you stand.

I do not just love you; I intervene,
For peace, for joy, for everything you need.
And when the weight is too heavy to bear,
Let me be the hands that lift that prayer.

So let me love you like God envisioned,
A cord of three, strong and divine.
Not merely whispers, not simply touches,
But in soul, in promise, and in abundance.
