This past weekend the Sr. High Cross Country teams competed at Genoa Central High School in the Dragon Country Invitational. Both teams did a great job with several athletes turning in their best times of the year. The varsity girls finished 2nd overall. They had 3 girls finish in the top 15. Freshman Brianna Maclaughlin finished 10th. Senior Mariana Turcios finished 11th and freshman Madelyne Maclaughlin finished 13th. Juniors Miracle Martinez and Brency Cabriales also had a good showing with a 17th and 21st place finish respectively. The varsity boys finished 4th overall but it was a very close race. The boys were 12 points behind 1st and only 2 points behind the 2nd place team. Sophomore Brian Jiminez finished 3rd and junior Rey Retana had a 10th place finish. Senior Adrian Yepez finished 18th and Sophomore Alex Hernandez finished 21st. The cross country teams will compete again October 25th at Texarkana A&M in the 7-4A Conference Championship.
