HOPE STUDENTS TAKE TOP HONORS AT THE ARKANSAS VEX IQ STATE\r\nCHAMPIONSHIP
\r\nLocal Teams Secures a Spot at the REC Foundation’s VEX Robotics World Championship\r\n
\r\nHOPE, Arkansas - March 10th, 2023 –Hope Academy of Public Service’s students from The Vexes,\r\nVEX IQ Competition team 71801F, secured 2nd Place in the Teamwork Challenge and The\r\nFlamethrowers, team 71801B, placed 6th out of all teams at the Arkansas VEX IQ State\r\nChampionship in Russellville, Arkansas. The students collaborated with the top 32 teams from 15\r\nschools. The action-packed day engaged elementary and middle school students in the 2022-2023 VEX IQ Competition Slapshot, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition (REC)\r\nFoundation. The Vexes and Flamethrowers have secured a spot to showcase their skills at the\r\nculminating event of the season, the VEX Robotics World Championship, sponsored by the Northrop\r\nGrumman Foundation, where the best teams from across the country and around the world compete\r\nto be crowned World Champions.\r\n
\r\nHope will be well represented at the World\r\nChampionship and have the company of\r\nformer Hope students, Colin Easterling,\r\nJuan Leon, and Hunter Mathis. The Atum’s\r\nVEX U team is currently ranked 5th in the\r\nworld!\r\n
\r\nIn the VEX IQ Competition, students, with\r\nguidance from their teachers and mentors,\r\nbuild a robot using VEX IQ parts to solve an\r\nengineering challenge that is presented\r\neach year in the form of a game. Teams\r\nwork together to score points in Teamwork\r\nMatches and get to show off their skills\r\nindividually in driver-controlled and\r\nprogramming Robot Skills Challenges.\r\n
\r\nThe VEX IQ Competition fosters student development of teamwork, collaboration, critical thinking,\r\nproject management, and communication skills required to prepare them to become the next\r\ngeneration of innovators and problem solvers.\r\n
\r\nMr. Born, the team’s coach said, “I am beyond proud of all the competitors for the dedication it takes\r\nto not only go to the state championship, but that they accomplished it in their first year of robotics!\r\nAll teams finished in the top third of teams across the state and having two teams make it to Worlds\r\nis incredible.We wouldn’t have gotten here without the support of families and community sponsors\r\nof EPIC Student Ministries and Main Street Cleaners.”
