The Arkansas Master Gardener program recognized the Hope Academy of Public Service outdoor science garden, Denny’s Place, as its 2019 Master Gardener Project of the Year here April 30 in an awards ceremony at Hempstead Hall. Student creation of and participation in the project was facilitated through the HAPS EAST program, under the direction of teacher Jackie Brady. Participants from both contributing programs marked the achievement Wednesday in the main planter space of the garden. Representing HAPS, left of bench, were students Amber Cisneros, Payton Rhodes, Katie Arroyo, Edith Dominguez, Lane Lockhart, and Richard Cunningham, with Brady and HAPS Principal Dr. Carol Ann Duke. Representing the Hempstead County Master Gardener chapter, from Duke’s left, are, front Darla Irby, Kathryn Dickinson, Nan Wright, Debbie Chandler and Karen King.
