HPS sets Open House

HOPE – Parents and students in the Hope Public School District will have an opportunity to learn everything they need to start back to school during Open House on each of the campuses, and the Hope Collegiate Academy at the University of Arkansas-Hope campus.

HCA students and parents will attend Open House in the Rapert Library auditorium at UAH. Eleventh grade HCA activities are set Aug. 5 at 6 p.m., and 10th grade activities are at 6 p.m. on Aug. 6.

General Open House activities for each HPSD campus will be conducted from 3:30-7:30 p.m. on Aug. 8.

Teachers and staff will be on each campus to meet parents and students and to provide information concerning the new school year, including classroom expectations, routines and student schedules.

School supplies are furnished for students in the HPSD and will be made available on the first day of classes Aug. 13, in most cases. Non-traditional supplies for specific classes or for courses such as art may be required and will be detailed by teachers.

Hope Academy of Public Service students must have parents complete updated contact information in the HAPS Back to School First Day Packet by Aug. 8.

“Any student not currently in the Hope School District will have to have all start of year forms on file by Open House,” HAPS Principal Dr. Carol Ann Duke said.

Dr. Duke said HAPS will also sell 2019-2020 edition tee shirts during Open House.

“Folks can visit the campus and pre-pay or pay at Open House,” she said.

The shirts are $10 each for YS-XL sizes and $12 for XXL-XXXL sizes, and feature a new HAPS logo design for 2019-2020, Duke said.

Beryl Henry Elementary School parents and students should report to the administration office at the north entrance to the main building for directions to classrooms during Open House.

Parents may also sign-up for the BHE Parent-Teacher Organization. Fathers and male guardians of students may also sign-up for the WatchDOGS campus program.

Special Open House hours Aug. 8 for teachers and school district staff will be observed, again, this year.

BHE will host district staff from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Clinton Primary School from 1-3 p.m.; HAPS from noon to 3 p.m.; Yerger Middle School from 1-3 p.m..; Hope High School from 1-3 p.m.; and Creative Action Team School (CATS) from 1-2:30 p.m.

The first day of classes is Aug. 13, with the last day of classes for the year on May 22.

Early dismissal days are set for Oct. 2, Nov. 6, Dec. 4, Feb. 5, March 4, April 1, and May 6.
