Beryl Henry Elementary School Coding Club members were recently treated to a coding creativity class with mentors Michael Williams and Malcom Baker of the Texarkana Alumni Chapter, Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. The two men helped the students create “binary bracelets” using colored beads to represent binary code and they tested the students’ coding sense with a Coding Challenge matrix. Baker, a Licensed Professional Counselor, leads the fraternity’s volunteers who mentor students in the Texarkana Independent School District through student organizations such as the Red Tie Boys Club. BHE teacher Sandra Rhone sponsors the BHE Coding Club. – Ken McLemore/Hope Public Schools
