CPS students honor King with balloons

Students and faculty at Clinton Primary School cheered and applauded a balloon launch by CPS Gifted and Talented classes Wednesday morning. GT teacher Alvis Conway told the third and fourth grade classes the ceremony was to observe the birthdate of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Third and fourth grade GT students, along with Travell Green, highlighted Dr. King’s life and work as a civil rights leader.  Green explained the Jan. 20 date commemorating King was established by Congress as a federal holiday.  No classes were held in the Hope Public Schools on Monday, Jan. 20. – Ken McLemore/Hope Public Schools
