Clinton Primary School has released its December 2024 Newsletter:
Help your child learn how to recognize and manage feelings. All kids feel worried or angry sometimes. Being aware of these feelings and thoughts is the first step in managing them in
healthy ways. Here’s how: Talk about thoughts. When your child seems sad or
anxious, ask, “What are you thinking about right now?” Your child may say, for example, “I’m worried no one will be my friend at school tomorrow.”
Show understanding. Put your child’s feelings into words. I know you’re feeling worried about finding a friend at school tomorrow.”
“Flip” thinking. Tell your child to make negative thoughts do a “flip” so they’re more positive or helpful. Your child might think, “I can ask my classmate from last year to play with me or sit with me at lunchtime.” or “I can tell my teacher I am worried about not having a friend during school.”
If your child often seems worried or upset, talk to your child’s teacher, school counselor or pediatrician.
Reminder: CPS Christmas program will be on Tuesday, December 10 at 6:00 p.m. Please join us for this presentation!
