HOPE – A car wash to benefit the Hope High School Robotics Team is set for Saturday at the Farmers Bank and Trust branch location at Hervey Square Shopping Center on North Hervey Street.\r\n
\r\nThe car wash is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations will be accepted for car washes.\r\n
\r\nRobotics coach Kathy Knight said the team is raising funds to close its 2016-2017 competition year. Each competition season requires the construction of a robot to specifications set for the particular contest formats of that season.\r\n
\r\nCompetition formats require robots to overcome obstacles and engage fixed fortification structures while fending off potential adversaries. Particular formats will require specific robotic functions which must be designed and constructed by the students.\r\n
\r\nKnight said the team’s fundraising goal for the year is $4,000.\r\n
\r\nTeam members include Hanna McCorkle, Mayra Garcia, Johnny Luna, Jerry Noble, Jacob Gunn, Toby Huckabee, Dalton Hulett, Dalton Kenworthy, Clarence Mayberry, Benjamin Knight, Tristain Martin, Josh Gonzales, Kelsey Reedy, Maggie Haynes, Margaret Mayberry, Jacqueline Cully, Kaitlyn Hooker, and Jacob Woeckener.\r\n
\r\nSponsors include HHS Assistant Principal Mike Radebaugh, Israel Diaz, and Knight.\r\n
