HOPE – The new season for the Hope High School Bobcat Boys and Girls Golf teams is one of building experience through the first two sets of match and tournament play.
Hope boys’ golfers Dalton Kenworthy, Ben Knight and Kobe Watson tallied a collective 407 in the opening match play at DeGray Lake Golf Course hosted by Arkadelphia High School. Knight is a sophomore, and Kenworthy and Watson are freshmen.
The HHS girls’ team, Natalie Phillips, Tia Corbett and Sydney Watson, shot a collective 303 for the tourney to win the girls’ match play. Corbett and Watson are seniors, and Phillips is a sophomore.
Kenworthy brought in the top round for Hope with a 127, while Phillips shot 99 for the girls.
Arkadelphia High School won the three-man match play with a collective 273.
The Bobcat boys traveled to Texarkana on Aug. 4 for the Razorback Tournament, shooting a collective 374 on the New Haven course at Texarkana. The girls did not compete.
Kenworthy, again, shot the best round for Hope with a 106.
Lakeside High School won the four-man match play with a collective round of 327.
Hope hosts Texarkana and White Hall in match play Tuesday at Hope Country Club, and will travel to Magnolia on Thursday for match play at the Magnolia Country Club.
The Bobcat links teams will host both boys’ and girls’ district practice and tournament play at Hope Country Club on Sept. 20-21.
State practice and tournament play for both boys and girls will be in Hot Springs Sept. 27-27 and Oct. 5-6 at Hot Springs Country Club in girls’ competition and at Ridge Point Country Club for boys’ competition.
