HOPE – A week of school spirit activities was capped Friday with ceremonies in which 17-year old Tatyanna Smith was crowned the 2016 Hope High School Homecoming Queen.

Smith, the daughter of Lori White and Briant Brown, will play American-Freedom League softball after graduation from HHS. She has been active in HHS Student Council, Key Club, Nike Club, Bobcat Marching Band, and Bobcat girls’ softball. Smith is also a member of Haynes Chapel Baptist Church.

She was chosen to represent HHS from among 11 homecoming maids, including:

--Darnesha Vickers, 17, daughter of Ora and Odis Vickers, who plans to study nursing at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway after graduation; and, has played basketball, participated in varsity cheer and served as a football manager at HHS.

--Kiaura Smith, 17, the daughter of Sheba and Milko Smith, who will major in business in college; and, has been a member of the HHS Student Council, Nike Club, Talent Search, and served as a manager for both girls’ basketball and Bobcat football.

--Tazharia Woodberry, 17, daughter of Laquita Thomas and Jeffery Woodberry, Sr., who plans to pursue a degree in athletics education at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway; and, has been a member of the HHS Student Council, is Senior Class Co-President, a member of Key Club and Nike Club, and has played girls’ basketball.

--Ameiah Trotter, 18, the daughter of Myrtle Trotter and Aaron Smith, plans to attend Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia and study marketing, and has served as a football team manager at HHS and played girls’ basketball.

--Sydney Watson, 17, the daughter of Mary Ann Zimmer and Waylon Watson, plans to study speech disorders and pursue a master’s degree from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway after graduation; and, she has served on the HHS Student Council, currently as executive secretary, is a member of Key Club, Nike Club and the HHS yearbook staff, is a varsity girls’ golfer and has represented HHS at Girls’ State.

--Justice Lawson, 17, is the daughter of Trina Johnson and Mike Lawson, who plans to pursue a master’s degree in Kinesiology at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway after graduation; and, has been a member of Student Council, Talent Search, Nike Club, JROTC, teaching cadet, cheerleader and basketball and football manager, as well as Kids’ College volunteer while at HHS.

--Miriam Hernandez, 18, is the daughter of Carmen and Francisco Martinez, and she plans to study cosmetology in Texarkana and operate her own business after graduation. She has been a member of the HHS JROTC unit.

--Treasure Nelson, 17, is the daughter of La’Tonya Smith and Richard Nelson, and she plans to pursue doctorate-level studies beginning at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. She has been a varsity cheerleader, yearbook staffer, and volunteer for the Let’s Go to Work Foundation.

--Alissa Lewis, 17, is the daughter of Cheryl and Gregory Pollins, and intends to study nursing after graduation. She has been a member of Nike Club, a football team manager, and Kids’ College volunteer at HHS, and is a member of Haynes Chapel Baptist Church.

--Quiana Gulley, 17, is the daughter of Marcie and Edward Gulley, and she plans to pursue a degree in athletic training science after graduation. She has been a member of the HHS Student Council, currently serving as senior representative, a member of Key Club, Nike Club and has played girls’ basketball at HHS.

The theme for Homecoming 2016 was “Welcome to Wonderland,” sponsored through the HHS Student Council, with coronation ceremonies turning Jones Field House into the setting of “Alice in Wonderland.”
