The Hope High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp presented a Patriot’s Day ceremony on Sept. 11 in remembrance of the lives lost, heroism shown, and actions taken on that day when four commercial airliners were hijacked and used in the largest mass casualty terrorist attack upon American soil. AFJROTC Senior Aerospace Science Instructor Lt. Col. (Ret.) Mark Hart read the remembrance as cadets raised, then lowered the American flag to half-staff and the sounding of Taps was played. – Lekia Jones/Hope Public Schools

Our Phenomenal Art & Photography Teacher, Mr. Kendrick Adams used outdoor objects as props for his art class on September 17th. The Art 2 students are studying texture. Eventually they will learn how to put texture into their artwork. To understand texture, they took 5 rubbings of different textures they found outside. They will also take 10 photos of textures. They will put these into a slide show and focus on one area of each texture. They will show these slides to the class attempting to prevent other students from recognizing the texture. Afterwards, they will draw 3 of the textures. Finally, they will draw a group of objects emphasizing the texture of those objects in a final piece of art.

Over 150 students participated in the program funded by a 2020-2021 Arkansas Game and Fish Commission grant to begin Arkansas National Archery in the Schools Program (ANASP). The students were taught shooting safety and archery principles by Lt Col Hart & Coach Rhodes.
